How to Do Well at School

Our first podcast of the semester from the Actively Engaged Online Series was How to do Well at School. It was full of useful tips on how to become a successful college student which, let's face it,  isn't always easy.  Adapting to a new school environment and a new program, making time for old and new friends, and often having to work a part-time job while going to school can surely make things a challenge for any new college student.

However, like anything else you want to become good at, becoming a good student takes practice, dedication and hard work. I wasn't always a stellar student at college. One of the things that I could have done better was to keep better track of my assignments and to seek help from my teachers more often. As the podcaster mentions, sometimes the fear of failure can even stand in the way of you asking for help.

Seek support and answers to your questions when you need it! There are places at the college you can go to get extra assistance with writing in English. At Montmorency College, you can make an appointment online through Colnet to meet with any of the teachers in the Modern Languages Department or to meet a qualified tutor to help you revise your academic essays and more at the CAALM (Centre d'aide en anglais et en langues modernes).

So, don't be afraid to ask for extra assistance when you need it. Remember, your teachers are there to help ensure your success!
